Anyone who knows anything about the people who actually give a damn about elephants knows that Carol Buckley has been given the raw deal of the century. I won’t go in to details, but can you imagine having your child held hostage? That must be exactly how Carol feels. How does Tara feel? Her human mother is not allowed to see her. How awful! How can these people do these things and then claim to care about anyone or anything except their own agenda; an agenda which is just about as sleazy as anything I’ve come across in recent years ? Now the court can decide on just how sleezy these people are agenda which is anything but honorable.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this blog, Jerry. How these people could treat another this way and deny Carol access to seeing her own elephant, Tarra. Shameful!! The truth will come out now for all to see, no hiding. It is far worse than I thought!! Go, Carol!!
ReplyDeleteJane, you continue to put your head in the sand. You asked for facts and when you get them, if they aren't what you want to hear, you won't believe it. What is the other side to paying your husband $60K for work that he said would be pro bono?
ReplyDeleteThere now has been ONE side of the story made public. I am still waiting to hear the other side. That is what Courts of Law are for.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, all of Carol's (unwavering!) supporters cannot wait until this is in the courtroom and heard by all. No hiding now. Carol Buckley did not make The Elephant Sanctuary what it is today with sloppy record keeping. That is just beyond shameful what they did. Sleazy is a good word, Jerry, I use that for those guilty!

ReplyDeleteNone of the elephants at the sanctuary are "owned" by anyone: they have guardians. I hope that the court will uncover the truth and rule in the best interests of the elephants, including Tarra, rather than either Carol or her opponents.
Tarra was rescued by Carol? Really? Didn't Carol use Tarra to 'entertain' people for 20 years, including 'teaching' her to roller skate...all of this after she rescued her? Whatever Carols great work afterwards these facts seem to have been rewritten by her supporters.
ReplyDeleteCarol is not Tarra's human mother, and Tarra certainly is not her child. That kind of attitude is why there's so many exotic animals in 'entertainment', private collections and used pets today.
This should be about the welfare of the elephants, not popularity politics.

Many questions have been asked and many remain unanswered... I am a big fan of transparency and it seems to have been lacking in this case, with this "NON PROFIT" organization... which curiously required a European Chief Executive Officer, really? Wonder what HE is getting paid and how....? I mean, can't be much available for such an expenditure... unless...?
ReplyDeleteI for one would like to hear (more) from Carol Buckley, Scott Blais, an independent forensic accountant, as well as a truly PRO BONO out of state law firm to represent the numerous donors who may or may not have been (and maybe still are being) mislead and stolen from... any takers out there?
Politics and money is a sleazy combo and this story smacks of both... once again, only the two legged animals will prevail... long live american greed !
